Rain’s End

The clouds sweep blue within a silver sky;
The wind has stilled; the raindrops slowly dry
Upon the grass. Below the hill’s soft side
The pond’s more silent than the heavens’ wide
Expanse washed grey, reflects in glassy deep
The trees and skies just as they fall asleep
In drowsing afternoon. Sweet…
