Clouds Over the Valley
three haiku for summer rains
I have just a quick post this morning: the first haiku is looking out over the San Pedro River valley on a rainy morning.
Dawn's topsy-turvy
above the rain-filled valley:
clouds below mountains.
The second is looking at the slender brown pods on all the Palo Verde trees. The pods are not particularly decorative, but they’re a source of food to many little creatures, so their arrival is worth celebrating.
Clusters of brown seed pods
decorate bare green branches,
ornaments for June
And this third is looking back across the valley.
Translucent blue clouds
above the valley’s vastness
the black raven soars
