Hello friends,
This post is very much off-schedule, not to mention, very brief. It is a tiny look at our resident quail coveys—of which there are several in the garden.
Sunday afternoon
an elegant promenade
of pattering quail
I don’t know how many of my readers have been fortunate enough to watch newly fledged baby quail running around after their parents. It is a sight not to be missed for sheer delight.
One of the coveys recently hatched a whole new brood, and they live mostly in the shelter of a large oleander bush in the garden. At present the chicks are about the size of the bush’s blooms.
Beneath a bush
a sprinkling of petals
new quail chicks
They do patter, don't they, in a way that's almost like gliding ... pit-a-pit-a-pit-a-pat. 💛
So very cute.
