I have two haiku for this week, that is all. I’m on day four of my current migraine, and I haven’t been able to spruce up any of my longer poems. So I will leave you with this selection from recent days. And at the end is a photograph I took on the edge of our property. Chainfruit cholla may be formidable, but they certainly have an unusual and exotic beauty.
The clouds drag their toes
like children learning to ride
on a bicycle
Twilight is ended;
dusk draws down invisible,
but a bird still sings.
Oh, those chollas look like they're about to cast a spell!
Thank you for the haiku and the photograph both. Wishing you relief from pain, and soon.
I'm imagining the second haiku taking place in that photo at dusk. Somewhere in those plants is that bird singing.
