The January Dwellers
A Glimpse of Chollas and a Haiku of Woodpeckers
January flirts:
two woodpeckers are whirling
round and round a post.
The Quietude of Chollas
How quietly
The chollas watch the morning;
Their tumbled elf locks
Glow bright yellow
Against the rain-dark gray
Of the winter clouds.
A few drops fall gently;
The chollas smile shyly.
