The New Moon
This poem was a brief vision from last night’s sky, and it should stand on its own with just a short comment on the form in which it is written.
The tritriplicata is a syllable-based poetic form recently developed by poet Arjan Tupan. I discovered his work on Medium.com and was intrigued by the possibilities. The form itself is brief and simple and related in a sense to haiku, but its five lines (3-6-9-6-3) naturally produce a little different rhythmic and thought development than haiku.
Some poets are using it to create multi-stanza works. At present I enjoy exploring the opportunities provided in its single-stanza brevity.
Here is a look at the new moon…
Luna
New moon night:
Solitary, slender,
Silver curl, a fresh-born radiance
Arcing through ebony
Ancient sky.
It's such a wonderful poem. I love how you have made a choice with writing tritriplicatas. I am experimenting with single stanza poems and with multiple stanzas. It's an exploration, but I do like the shorter version better.
