Loving the paradoxes in the haiku. The saguaro blossoming and "young at forty years," the quail with the mournful voice (I know that voice!) and the merry scamper. 💛🌿
Thank you, Elizabeth! I love paradoxes in haiku especially. Those quail voices are unforgettable, aren't they?! Different sounds for different reasons, and even (so far as I can tell) for different parts of the day... or does the dusk just give it a different effect?
All the little creatures--especially birds--are so active here at the end of spring. It does indeed feel like the place is chock full of life! ;-) Great news about the book!

Isn't that something, looking at a first bloom and thinking that's 35 years in the making...🌵💕
It really is, Sydney--a very special experience!
I really like that final haiku about the quail. Excellent imagery in so few words.
Thank you so much, Neil--so glad you like it! :)
The spirits of living things and a whole canyon full. That's a lot of 'em. wonderful. New edition arrives today, soon!
