The Hillside Diary

This is the poetic record of an interlude in the author's life: a time of healing, change and transition, when fresh eyes and an open heart were of great importance.

While it includes an ongoing account of the author's own thoughts and feelings, it is primarily a diary of the scenes around her. The wind and weather, snowflakes and wildflowers, the tiny creatures of grasses and trees, and occasionally the larger creatures of the pastures are the main protagonists.

All of this means that it is a very personal record of a very particular place over a single passing of seasons 2019-2020. This ephemeral viewpoint is intrinsic to the nature of this collection. It is an invitation to live through a succession of months with the author on her hillside, sometimes green, sometimes white, sometimes brown, as the wind blows or the sun shines. A delight in words and in a wide range of poetic forms transforms these momentary glimpses into an ongoing vision that can be shared and enjoyed by others.
