That perpend is a dang interesting word. I don't imagine you meant portend there.....? Great little haiku. Any interest in a new form of haiku called a snaifu?
Ha, I had to double-check the dictionary before I used perpend. Unfortunately for me, it's a transitive verb... would have been so much handier if it had been intransitive! Of course, the real effort was trying to get enough workable rhymes to moon. I knew better when I started the poem but was hard-headed and went on with it.
As for snaifus... yes, now I know the name of all those three-line sonnets I have on my drive... get a first rhyme in and then everything gets stuck lol. Lots of snaifus!
I'm a total newbie to poetry, and this is only the second time I'e encountered a villanelle, so my opinion doesn't count for much at all yet. But I really love this. Thanks.

This is so funny. I like to start off a good rhyme that ends with "orange" and go crazy with all the rhymes after that.
Amy, this is such a lovely villanelle--a tricky form, indeed, and oh you bring such beauty with your words!
And thank you for the new vocabulary word! I had to head to my dictionary to look up 'perpend.' I love learning new words :-)
A moonlit friendship!! 🌗

Thank you so much, Levi! Your opinion certainly does count, as poetry should be a thing of delight to any interested readers.
